Rotate PDF

Fix sideways scans and upside-down pages. Turn the whole file or single pages, check the thumbnails, and save a corrected copy.

Your result

Open a PDF to see its pages and turn them the right way up.

How it works

Every PDF page has a rotation setting of 0, 90, 180 or 270 degrees that tells viewers which way up to show it. This tool changes only that setting. The thumbnails, drawn with pdf.js, show each page the way it currently displays, and they turn as you click. When you save, the pages are copied with pdf-lib, an open-source PDF library, and each turn is added to the page's existing rotation.

Saved rotation = (the page's current rotation + your turn) mod 360

Worked example: a scan with mixed orientations

You scanned a 6-page lease. Pages 1-4 are fine, page 5 (a landscape rent table) came out sideways, and page 6 is upside down. Click page 5, keep "Selected pages" chosen and press Turn right 90°. Then click page 6 so it is the only page selected and press Turn 180°. The summary shows 2 pages turned. Save, and the copy opens correctly in any viewer.

If the whole file is sideways, as with a phone scan held the wrong way, leave "All pages" chosen and press one button.

Why the quality doesn't change

Many online rotators turn each page into an image and rotate that, which blurs text and makes it unselectable. Here the page content is copied untouched and only the rotation number changes, so a 300-page file turns as quickly and as sharply as a 3-page one.

Your file stays on your device

The PDF is never uploaded. It is read into this browser tab, the rotated copy is built in a background worker on your device, and the result goes straight to your downloads. The original file is not changed. Bookmarks are not carried into the copy, and fillable form fields may stop being fillable.

Questions people ask

Does rotating a PDF reduce its quality?

No. The tool does not redraw or recompress anything. A PDF page carries a rotation setting, in steps of 90 degrees, and that setting is all that changes. Text stays selectable and images keep every pixel, so the file size barely changes.

Can I rotate just one page?

Yes. Hover over a page (or tap it on a phone) and use its turn buttons, or click the page to select it and use the Turn buttons with "Selected pages" chosen. Pages you leave alone stay as they are.

Will the pages stay rotated when I open the file elsewhere?

Yes. The rotation is saved in the PDF itself using the standard page rotation setting, which Adobe Acrobat, Preview, Chrome, Edge, phone viewers and printers all follow. It is not a view setting that only this site remembers.

Can I rotate a password-protected PDF?

Yes, if you know its password. Type it when the tool asks; it is used only in this browser tab. The rotated copy is saved without a password, so protect it again if you need to.

Which way is "Turn right"?

Clockwise, by 90 degrees: the top of the page moves to the right. "Turn left" is counter-clockwise, and "Turn 180°" flips a page that is upside down. The thumbnails turn as you click, so you can check the result before saving, and Undo takes back the last turn.
