How it works
The PDF opens in this browser tab with a thumbnail for every page, drawn by pdf.js. The pages you pick are copied with pdf-lib, an open-source PDF library, into a new document in their original order. The copy is made in a background worker, then saved to your downloads. Your original file is not changed.
Pages in the new file = pages you picked (each page once, in original order)
Extract versus delete versus split
- Extract when you want a few pages out of many: pick the 2 pages you need from a 40-page contract.
- Delete pages when you want most of the file: mark the 2 pages you don't need.
- Split when the whole file should become several files, such as every 10 pages or one file per chapter.
Worked example: sending only the signed pages
An HR portal wants just the signature pages of a 22-page offer packet: pages 4, 17 and 22. Type 4, 17, 22 and choose Select. The summary shows 3 pages. Keep "One PDF" and save: you get a 3-page file with page 4 first and page 22 last. Choose "One PDF per page" instead if the portal wants each signature as a separate upload.
Private by design
Nothing is uploaded. The PDF is read from your disk into this tab, processed on your device, and the result is handed to your browser as a download. That makes it safe for pay stubs, tax forms, medical records and IDs. If the PDF is password-protected, type the password when asked; it is used only in this tab, and the extracted file opens without one.
Questions people ask
How do I pick the pages to extract?
Click the thumbnails you want; a check mark appears on each. Or type page numbers in the box above the thumbnails, for example "3, 7-9", and choose Select. You can mix both: type a range, then click to add or remove single pages.
What order are the extracted pages in?
The order they have in the original file, whatever order you clicked them in. To put pages in a different order, extract them first and then rearrange the new file with the Organize PDF tool.
Can I save each page as a separate PDF?
Yes. Under "Save as", choose "One PDF per page". Each chosen page becomes its own file, named with its page number, and the files download together in one ZIP. Picking a single page always gives a plain PDF.
Can I extract pages from a password-protected PDF?
Yes, if you know the password. Type it when asked; it is used only inside this browser tab. The extracted file is saved without a password.
Will the extracted pages look exactly the same?
Yes. Pages are copied, not re-rendered, so text stays selectable and sharp and images keep their original quality. Each page keeps its size and rotation. The bookmarks outline is not copied, and fillable form fields may stop being fillable.
