How it works
Every press of a button adds one step: a mirror across the vertical or horizontal centre line, or a quarter turn. The steps are combined into a single change, so pressing Rotate right four times brings you back to No change, and Flip horizontally twice cancels out. When you press Apply, each image is drawn once onto a canvas with that change and saved as a new file. Width and height swap after a 90° turn.
Rotate right 90°: a W × H image becomes H × W; the top edge becomes the right edge
Flip horizontally: the left edge becomes the right edge; the size is unchanged
Worked example
You scanned 12 receipts with your phone held sideways, so each JPG is 3024 × 4032 pixels but the text runs from bottom to top. Add all 12, press Rotate right 90° and look at the preview: if the text now reads upside down, press Rotate right twice more (or Rotate left) until it reads normally. Press Apply, and each receipt is saved as a 4032 × 3024 JPG named like receipt-01-rotated.jpg. Download all 12 as one ZIP.
Which button to press
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| Selfie text reads backwards | Flip horizontally |
| Photo lies on its left side (top of the picture points left) | Rotate right 90° |
| Photo lies on its right side | Rotate left 90° |
| Photo is upside down | Rotate right twice (180°) |
| Reflection in water or a mirror shot | Flip vertically or horizontally, check the preview |
| Sideways only in some programs | Apply with no change to store it upright |
Privacy and file details
Images are opened and saved by your browser on your device and are never uploaded. Each output keeps its format where the browser can write it (JPG, PNG, WebP; Safari saves WebP as JPG), and GIF, BMP and AVIF are saved as JPG. The saved files are new images without EXIF data, so camera details and GPS location are not carried over. Images larger than 16.7 megapixels are scaled down to that size so phones can handle them, and the list says when that happens.
Questions people ask
What is the difference between flipping and rotating?
Flipping makes a mirror image: flip horizontally and text reads backwards, and a person looking left now looks right. Rotating turns the picture like a sheet of paper on a table, so nothing is mirrored. Use Flip horizontally to undo a mirrored selfie, and Rotate to fix a photo that is on its side.
How do I un-mirror a selfie?
Many phone front cameras save selfies mirrored, so writing on a shirt or a sign appears backwards. Add the photo, press Flip horizontally, check that the preview reads correctly, then press Apply and download. Some phones also have a camera setting called Mirror front camera that controls this for future selfies.
My photo looks upright on my phone but sideways on my computer. Can this fix it?
Yes. Phones often store the picture sideways and add a note (the EXIF orientation tag) telling viewers to turn it. Some older programs and websites ignore the note. This tool reads the note when it opens the photo, so the preview shows it the way your phone does. Press Apply even with no changes and the saved copy is stored upright, so every program shows it correctly.
Does flipping or rotating reduce quality?
PNG files are saved losslessly, so nothing changes except the orientation. JPG and WebP files are saved again at quality 92, which looks the same on screen but is not bit-for-bit identical, and repeated saves add up. Apply all your turns and flips in one go rather than saving several times.
Can I rotate many photos at once?
Yes. Every image in the list gets the same flip and rotation. Add all the photos that need the same fix, set the orientation once using the preview of the first photo, and press Apply. Download them one by one or all together as a ZIP.
