WebP to JPG

Saved a picture from a website and got a .webp file your app won't open? Turn it into a JPG here, one image or a whole batch, without uploading anything.

90 or more looks the same as the original. Lower means smaller files.
JPG has no transparency, so see-through parts get this color. White suits most uses.

    Your result

Add WebP images to convert them to JPG.

    How the conversion works

Your browser already knows how to read WebP, so the page uses that built-in decoder rather than a separate library. Each image is decoded, painted onto a blank canvas filled with your chosen background color, and saved again as a JPG at the quality on the slider. The file keeps its name and pixel size: banner.webp becomes banner.jpg.

product-photo.webp → decode in your browser → fill any transparency → save as JPG at quality 92 → product-photo.jpg

All of this runs on your device. The images are never uploaded, and closing the tab discards them.

Why you keep ending up with WebP files

WebP is an image format Google introduced in 2010. For the same picture it is usually smaller than a JPG, so pages load faster, and every current browser can display it. That is why shops, news sites and image CDNs send WebP whenever the browser accepts it. When you right-click and save, you get exactly what the site sent, which is often the WebP copy even if the address ends in .jpg.

Where JPG is still the safer choice

Worked example: product images for a listing

You saved eight product photos from a supplier's site and they all came down as WebP, about 90 KB each. Your marketplace listing only accepts JPG. Drop all eight here, keep quality 92 and press Convert. Each comes out as a JPG at the same pixel size. Expect the JPGs to be larger than the WebPs, sometimes two or three times the size, because JPG compresses less efficiently. That is normal and no detail is added or lost beyond what the WebP already had. Press "Download all 8 as ZIP" to get them in one file.

What is kept and what is not

    Limits

Each image is held in memory while it converts, so very large batches on a phone may be slow. Images over about 16.7 megapixels are shrunk to fit the browser's canvas limit, and the list tells you when that happened. Animated WebP files convert to their first frame. The page also accepts PNG, AVIF, GIF and BMP files dropped in by mistake and converts them to JPG the same way.

    Questions people ask

Why did "Save image as" give me a .webp file?

Many websites and image CDNs send WebP to any browser that says it can display it, because WebP files are smaller than JPG. The same picture may be stored as JPG on the server, but your browser received and saved the WebP version. Converting it here gives you a JPG.

    Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. The page decodes each WebP with your browser's own image decoder and saves it as JPG on your device. Nothing is sent to a server, so it also works for private pictures and keeps working if you go offline after the page has loaded.

    What quality should I pick?

Leave it at 92 for most uses: it looks the same as the WebP on screen. If a form caps uploads at, say, 2 MB and the file is still too big, lower it to around 80. Going above 95 makes files much larger with no visible gain, because the WebP was already compressed.

What happens to a transparent WebP?

JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the color in the "Fill transparent areas with" box, white by default. Partly transparent edges, such as a soft shadow, are blended into that color. If you need to keep the transparency, use the WebP to PNG converter instead.

Does it work with animated WebP?

It converts the first frame only, because a JPG is a single still picture. To keep the animation you would need a GIF or video tool.

Can I convert a whole folder at once?

Yes. Select or drop up to 200 images in one go (on phones the total size limit is lower). They convert one after another, each gets its own Download button, and "Download all as ZIP" saves them in a single ZIP file with the original names and a .jpg ending.
